It's a very exciting night in my household! My housemate Lyndon has just had his new video game air its first advert during Extreme Fishing. Need for Speed Hot Pursuit is out and I must say that video games have improved a lot since my Super Mario Brothers days. I have always enjoyed playing video games and maybe it was too many cold January days with nothing else to do in Saskatchewan, but I can remember how addicted I would get to them. I remember my brother and I playing an old Intelevision game called Burger Time. The concept was pretty out there, and not nearly as cool as what Lyndon has shown me of the animation he did for Need For Speed. In Burger Time, your character is a chef and you have to walk over the different layers of a hamburger trying to create it while being chased by eggs, sausages and....pickles!! You fend off your enemies by spraying pepper in their eyes and are rewarded with ice cream treats along the way! Todd and I would imitate the chef's celebratory dance each time we passed a level and spending time playing video games is one of my favourite childhood memories with my brother. To be honest, I think I was a typical big sister and played while Todd was "allowed" to watch. I wonder if my love of video games was an early indication of my inclination to maths and wonder if there is a correlation between the two - do other mathematicians love video games as well?
Check out burger time...it's worth a laugh if nothing else!
